Wizardry 8 latest patch fixed EXE... Why is it nowhere to be found?

Wrong! The latest NO-CD patch posted on GCW (as of Jan 4, 2002) was originally mislabeled as a 1.2.4 patch, when in reality it was a better 1.2.2 patch (the fairlight patch needed a copied CD in the drive still, but the softbeard patch works without any CD needed at all). As far as I can tell, there isn't a 1.2.4 no-cd out yet (definitely not on GCW) - I guess the crackers aren't interested in Wiz8 or else the distro networks are horribly inefficient these days (with so few up-to-date crack sites, you'd think they could get them to people a lot faster; oh well)

Hmm... According to GCW's Wiz8 page, the 1.2.2 and 1.2.4 patches use the same EXE file. I somehow doubt this, as they are dated differently and there aren't any other significant files that differ in dates in the two patches. I'll have to run a binary comparison on the unpatches 1.2.2 and 1.2.4 EXE files to see for myself. My guess is that someone at GCW decided that there was no difference because the game still works after replacing the 1.2.4 EXE with a patched 1.2.2 EXE, and since the sizes were the same. It could be me that's wrong though...
