MechCommander 2 no-CD EXE doesnt work!

I got the ACE to unpack ok, but when I try to go into a mission, the game crashes lookin for a textures directory thats not on the HD or the original CD or my copy! (I had to make a copy to get the game to even install cause my DVD wont read it properly wit the Safedisc protection)

I dont think this EXE works with the US version or maybe the final release. Is it from a beta?
