Need help with backing up Metal Gear Solid
Hi
I seem to have a problem with making a 1:1 image file to backup my copy of Metal Gear Solid for the PC. I know that it is protected by Safedisc 1. When I try to make an image file I get read errors on certain sectors and the reading process takes an extremely long time. I was wondering if this is a normal occurence and if the image file that is created will burn and work properly. Any help at all on this subject will be appreciated. thanx |

what are you using, Use Clone Cd, the protection of Metal gear solid wont be that hard to get passed by Clone cd. Although you may be one of those dudes who doesnt have a cd-copier that is compatable with Clone cd or cant even get over safedisc. Not to worry, if u r using Nero to make a copy, download the fixed exe file for metal gear solid and replace this when you drag the contents of the metal gear solid disc onto Nero. Basically in Nero drag all the files from the original and replace the fixed exe file onto the disc, and burn. Then when u install it you shouldnt have any problems i wouldnt think.

Yezz, CloneCD works only with a couple of burners. Try the blindread/write suite (at the gcw.tools section) to get a working copy. Try "alternative" read-mode! If your unit is compatible 2 clonecd, download newest release and select "intelligente suche nach deekten sektoren" ad "defekte sektoren schnell überspringen" (if u use german version ;-)) - should work fine (and fast).
