Backup of Diablo II

as i can recall...backups aren't compatible online alone. there's a proggie that can circumvent that...but even that is a miss or hit. my question to you is what did you use to back the play disc? i can't seem to do it. i use cdrwin and create an iso...then burn it from there...however when the start up screen boots up and i click on "play diablo II" a screen pops up that tells me that i do not have the right disc in there. any help would be apreciated.
