Is there a (fairly simple) way to figure out what copy protection a game uses?

If there are patterns I could look for, maybe I could decide on a generic decoder to try on Ski Resort Tycoon and X-Wing Trilogy, since no No-CD / Fixed .EXE patches have arisen for these.

IN ASECTION OF GAMECOPYWORLD THERE IS A PROGRAM CALLED COPY DETECTOR USE IT AND YOU WILL BE SHOWN THE PROTECTION A CD HAS.I THINK THAT THIS PROGRAM IS LINKED TO CLONE CD
