Need help Simcity 3000 Unlimited

I have tried to make a back up of Simcity 3000 Unlimited (US). I get an error when I try to play it. It says incert the correct cd. I have tried cdclone it does not work with my cdrw. I have a compaq computer. I know bad on my part!!! Does anyone know what I can use other than cdclone since it won't work for me? New at this never had any probs doing this sort of stuff.
