used clonecd but doesn't work at all...

is there anyone who could help me making a "personal backup" of "Technomage". I tried CloneCD, the installation by using the copy-cd works, but when you start the game the computer stops reading while an error message is opening "mistake by reading <start.exe>". Hope anyone could help. Sorry for my bad English!!!!!

If you BOTH followed my instructions EXACTLY and your cdwriter is FULLY COMPATIBLE with CLONECD you would be able to copy anything. If your cdwriter is not compatible it is not the fault of the program. Not all cdwriters are capable of accurately reading or writing subchannel information since the manufacturers do not want to support making unauthorized duplications of CD's. CloneCD is our way of getting around this and requires a very good cdwriter to be able to perform this function. :P

hm....I think CloneCd is cool but...
even if u follow the instructions its not sure to get a proper copy! u also have to have the correct hardware to copy everything and so far (my opinion) nobody here was able to list some cd-writers which are compatible. I´m curious if Teac CDR56 is compatible.
Beside that: doing a cloned copy is always a bit gambling; doing a crack is rock stable (usually :-))

Ok Cybercop, I read your posts (always the same) and now I wonder what reader/writer do you use??? Your copy instructions work for some games but not for all. If you try to backup a safedisc protected game, it is NOT recommended to use the settings you post here and every where !!! The backup will run but more likely it won't (or only in some readers). Why should I read out subchannel data if the copy protection doesn't use them. Why should I check the don't correct subchannel... when there is no subchannel data??? The most backups will NOT work with the settings you always use. Settings depend on the copyprotection!!!! CloneCD is a very good tool to make self-running backups, but is not UNFAILING. I can backup Safedisc, Securom, ProtectCD etc. with my hardware without following your recommendations, so my hardware is/was compactible with CloneCD. Now SafediscV2 is out and the backups don't work anymore. So is my hardware not compactible anymore??? Unlikely. People claim they have backuped Hitman and more but were this games (country versions) really protected with SafediscV2??? In my opinion SafediscV2 is safedisc with one more component which makes the backup unusable (see my post in copyprotect....).
And this newly added component must be bypassed !!! I think CloneCD can't do it right now but maybe in the future.

Wrong Again!!! Read your post very carefully! You answered your own question and I don't even think you realized it. I have always said from the beginning that your hardware is the most important thing...apparently you overlooked that part of my post! I can copy ANY PROGRAM with those settings..if your cdwriter cannot do it...guess what...??? I don't think I need to say. I'm only hear to help those with what I have learned..the last think I or anyone else on this forum need is some know-it-all telling me that my instructions are wrong!! I have helped well over 500 people make perfect 1:1 copies of numerous SafeDisc2 programs and EVERY OTHER copy protected game in existence!! If your cdwriter just can't do the job don't look at me to blame...!! purchase a better cdwriter!! 8)
