Don't panic i've once bought a used ps2 game
and it had a deep scratch also the game wouldn't load ,
but i've fixed it causse i've read an article once about it in a game
magazine, you must made the cd thinner bij polishing it
long enough until the scratch is poilished away also ,
i used copper cleanig wich is very agresisive and a lot of water,
just take a handerchief or something lay the cd down in the kitchen or a place where you can make a mess , put a lot of copper cleaning on the cd and start making cricular movements start on the inside toward the outside with one continueing movement and repeat it long enough it results in thousands of microsratches and it looks awfull but the laser can read trough microsratches so it doesn't matter,
go on with polishing until the big scratch is as good as gone then at the end use very little copper cleaning and a lot of water and polish again this way you reduce some of the microscrathes and smoothening the surface.
well if you have done it correctly you end up with a terrible looking cd but the big scratch is reduced enough so your laser can read it again well it worked for me and for all those game magazines that do this a lot becausse they get many scratched cd's from devellopers.
