the version refers to the project it self advancing forward or it refers that every single version handle different files using older or newer version of zlib headers?
I mean if the game uses zlib 2 headers can i use pzlib v4 to precompress it?

there are 3 versions of pzlib, the versions of pzlib are not affiliated zlib versions at all, they are just titled to pzlib only.
