Video Playback is possible without codecs.
Tested with my installer source. as long as the video is a windows media product like .wmv (Windows Media Video) it will play because windows media player is already installed in the system and therefore the codec is also installed. Conclusion you can convert video.mp4 to video.wmv then rename extension from wmv back to mp4 and try again.
