Can you post a screenshot about how Polish characters look like in the game? Have you checked translation infos on the (unofficial) support site? Try a professional text editor such as EditPlus+ or UltraEdit.
Or try the built-in text editor of the current 2.0 alphas of the wonderful Far Manager (
http://www.farmanager.com ): it supports dozens of code pages as well as Unicode, UTF-7 and UTF-8. Make sure to set the console font to one that contains all kinds of national characters: Fixedsys Excelsior (
http://www.fixedsysexcelsior.com ) is great when configured in ConEmu (
http://code.google.com/p/conemu-maximus5/ ).
By the way, the latest (unofficial) patch I could find is 6.3, not 6.5:
