If the system worked fine for 4 months then i would say the solder points are right. Be sure the chip is being mounted in a secure, out of the way place on the board and completely covered with tape so it doesn't ground itself on anything in case it gets jarred. also use a magnifying glass to ##### pin's 5, 6 and 3 to be sure they are well connected and no excess solder is connecting the pin's together in any way.
