got the game legal and i paid the 29.99 to download it from gamestop.com

No you didnt get it legal as you said in a later post you cancelled the payment!

Yes, i got it from my gf, she has the actual cd.
Just made an mdf file from it in hopes to play (using my key to install) still would not work.

So what your actually trying to do here is cheat the system and trying to basically steal the game for yourself by using a Serial which you should not have on the game which your girlfriend owns (as she is the holder of the original media).
Your trying to install the same game twice onto 2 seperate machines but have only paid for one disc.

Ever heard of a EULA? I suggest you Google it then Read yours.
