I had same problem with the exe file, didn't work (WinXP SP3).
The miniimage also didn't work until I deleted the following key:
HKCU\Software\SecuROM
Don't forget to reboot!
btw: Original Disc always worked.

Don't delete that key if you have Mass Effect, Alone in the dark 5 or any other title with SecuROM online activation installed !

They are randomly labeled, but it doesn't work for everyone without changing device parameters.
