Burn
FF9 at 12x

I have a brand new Iomega 12x10x32x(rebadged Plextor). It has the 1.07 firmware. I burned a backup off an image of the first disc of FF9. I put it in my psx soon after burning it. It seemed to work perfect for the first use, the movies and sound did not skip, played smooth. I then restart the psx and do it again to see if the movies will skip and it started to skip in the movie intro to the game. It worked perfect the first time I used it now it skips all the time after on the movies making it unplayable. Did I use it to early after it popped out the burner? Should I have waited some time(20minutes?) for it to cool down before using the backup? I'm guessing the psx laser did something to the cdr. What you think?

I used 12x(has sticker on package saying support 16x) 80min/700mb Imations. I used CloneCd 2.8.2.1 with settings from CcdDatabase.

What's the use of 12x when quaility suffers? or is this the case for games with many cgi movies? Do you have problem burning your backups at 12x?

If I burn this game at 2x I know it should work perfect.

It's more down to the poor quality of the Playstation CD ROM drive than anything I expect.

To keep costs down, they only gave it a dual speed CD ROM drive.... that's probably why you're having problems with getting a 12x disc to work.

My PS backups won't even spin up unless I burn them at 2x. All my PC ones work fine at max speed though.

Ok played the same disc today. The intro movies that where skipping before run smooth now, but I played for a while an got to a new movie in the game and skipping occured once again. Weird. Guess it is the crappy psx drive.

Looser sorry I don't distribute backups. You should wait till it comes to a store near you or import it. Sorry I couldn't help you.
