Launch FileMon before running the game and, when you exit the game, filter FileMon's log and see what files and directories it accessed.

I have just dicovered how to do this i believe. i have just installed vista and have my save files folder from my xp installation. but when i looked under C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\Settings i see no folders for save games or save game files. Now click the tab for compatability files and you should see 2 folders named severs and profiles. open the profiles folders until you see the profile xml file and savegame files and just copy your old save files to here.
Now when you run the game you should have your old progress back.

Hope that helps you all
didi.

(Now get a proper file manager like FAR Manager or Total Commander and you won't have problems seeing files and directories that are actually there... Explorer hides too much from the user!)
