I don't have problems with the game. My computer-specs are lower than yours. The only thing is, that i have 2 GB of RAM.
The system-minimum requirement is only 512 MB of RAM, so this can't be the reason. You can try to disable your virus-scanner before you play the game. If you use WindowsVista, try running the game in WinXP SP2 - compatibility-mode.
