I think the game puts some information into its own section in the WIN.INI file (in the Windows home directory) because it accesses that file. (What a damn stupid idea to store information there, it's from the Windows 3.x times!!!) Try to find the section and quote its full contents.

hmm, that's strange...
well, looking at my 'win.ini' file... nothing about the game.

these are the last lines:

"

BinkComp=/d400000 /m3.0 /l4 /p8

"

strange.

Need the files CD1.CHK, CD2.CHK, DISK1.ID and the sound files in the path
\DATAS\SOUND (music+ambient). Also the \ANM files needed. I have the
game in 2CDs with september 1997 build files with the DKEV.EXE was
992,256 bytes length and this method works. I am not needed to change the
registry path settings and with files above works without CD.

Read the forum FAQ, for general solutions for general gaming problems, first.

if you still have cd`s you can do us a favor
to put cd`s in yours drive anf tell us exactly label of CD 1 and CD 2
i think problem with these version of game, wich I have and saulob, is that
CD label for CD1 and CD2 is the same "Dark Earth" with no CD1 or CD2

If you indeed have the 'original' discs then you wont need the exact labels from someone else as you should already know them!!

Extracted the 'DarkEarth(files).rar' file
Why does this comment make me suspect you too do not own the original discs either!!

I suggest you both read the Forum Rules before continueing your discussions here!!
