@dabhand: I dont understand your post? He is able to crack activemark and it works. Normally reloaded does not care about updates for their cracked games. That's why there will be no real cracked update from the scene that targets the Securom Prot.

So I think cracking active mark protection for game updates that would otherwise stay uncracked is possible I think.

For the "real" scene this is forbidden but gcw is not the "real" scene

chron, you've said it all i don't really care about the scene & it's rules. i can only invite you to see my fix & launch something like regmon - you'll see this release has activemark blinded (no browser or registry crap) & license routine activated. cheers

I own the german retail release of scarface.

The #1 crack released didn´t work... (See other scarface thread here in fileforums - the patch blew the menu/ingame texts and so on)

As there is no german v1.0.0.2 out there (or at least I didn´t find one) I tried to install the _en-patch. It refuses because it´s only for the us release.

So I unpacked the patch and found only some installer data, a splash screen, a new scarface.exe and a file named patch01.rcf.

Looking at Maciozo´s crack it also contains these two files (scarface.exe & patch01.rcf).

So I copied Maciozo´s release to my german retail installation of scarface. Game starts, menu was okay. Entered the game... Works for a few minutes and then crashed my whole system - instant reboot.

And, why does GCW states to "apply patch v.1.0.0.2" first, when all the files installed by the patch are replaced afterwards within the crack? So patching it seems to be pretty useless. Kay, I think, the stuff didn´t check this. So please take it as a hint, not as criticism.

And, to come to an end... Someone heard something about a german update patch of scarface? Maybe with a localized patch? (Please, if this is against rule #6, please ignore this request /and/or mods please erase it)

DaemonTools V4.0.8 + YASU V1.03 + good DPM = Working!
So no crack needed for me @ this stage ^^

@HaGaR: Thanks for your detailed information. It looks like it's a language-specific problem. If ActiveMARK isn't fixed properly the game will crash right after movies or some load screens or even won't start. Maybe it's also the fault of the different patch data file incompatible with your german ones. If a german patch comes, try exchanging the GCF file with patched data. You're welcome to post your results anytime.
And BTW - great job on SafeDisc 3.2-4 tute, but please post screenshots next time Greetz!

Well Activemark is a license checking protection. If it has activemark blindesided so is the License check.

Which means people can then get the game for free. And hence why im suprised no mod has closed and edited the link.

this often works for online games with normal cracks too (if they dont use virtual filesystem or file encryption).

For Example gamesload.

nada, the crack isn't compatible with the game edition you can get for free. the version i've cracked has protected download and it cannot be obtained by people who haven't paid for the digital download. thus you can leave the worries behind. pm if you still have doubts

If it works on retail, why not the downloadable version also?


It just stinks is all. And I thought the downloadble version is the Activemark protected one.

You've misunderstood. There are 2 digital download versions of this game. Both are protected by ActiveMARK. The other one (which can be downloaded by anyone) is protected by different version of protection so the crack doesn't work on it. Please PM me if you want more details according to this game & protection itself - I can't write those here for obvious reasons.
I also think that a working crack is better than no crack at all.

I have the same problem that you had... Would you please explain me how to solve it? It's realy important to me... I need to patch for scarface, so I can use a joystick (without the patch, it's not possible)
