But did it actually use that space for game data or did it waste the memorycard space on useless stuff like space-wasting icons and screenshots? I am curious about saves that waste space, not saves that are just big.

I dont see any excuse for ANY game that takes up half a memory card - and to be honest, what extra is there to store for that game which other games store whilst taking a fraction of the size - Hell, even 360 saves don't take that amount of room!

First of all, are you sure you are allowed to leak that info?

Second, well, since the PS3 will have a built in HDD, im guessing the game probably installs some files on the HDD for faster loading. Because, unless it records actual video onto the system, there is no way save data even if you tried to bloat it in purpose can take up 256mb.

Are you sure it needs 256 to save? Or does it say something like 256mb free needed to play?

.............

That or they meant KB and accidnetly typed MB because they are likely used to talking in giga/megabytes instead of kilobytes.

well i would think for saving im hoping its a typo and they ment kb not mb or as you sugested it may be to install part of the game to reduce loading. it prolly was a typo cuz ps3 marvel ultimate alliance says it only requires at least 2mb

in any case i think that they wast so much space because they want to increase memory card sales.

and if ps3 games do end up taking up 256 mb on your ps3 drive then sony can make a bigger hd and be like "Look now you can save more games" remember sony is loosing money on the ps3 just the blu-ray drive itself is about $700 so if they make you buy more storage then they can get their money back that way
