You need to download the patch from another web site. I had the same problem too. I downloaded the patch from gamespot 3 times and they all gave me the same error. I downloaded the patch from fileplanet (I think that was the site) and it installed without a problem.
I did all the tricks the first time. Took out the NoCD crack, Reinstalled the game, put the old files back in. None of that worked. You just need to download it from a different web site.

1st at PATCHES-SCROLLS.DE and GAMESPOT are BAD files (Bad CRC on
the ZIP and EXE). Next day changed the files for the good one(s). I heard on 3dgamers site was the same bad file and sure changed next... So, the installation error not your faults, DL again.
