He didnt flame you.
But it is unlikely they would change a protection to read another protection on the media. It just wouldnt work. Its a possibility that the PiD has miscorrectly read the updated VOB Protect. And it looked similar to Tages. |

It seemed strange to me, but I just put in the post what I saw. The original question still stands, does anyone have any ideas on how to get round this form of protection?

From my observation of your situation you must have started with a German copy which has ProtectDISC v6 protection and then, somehow, applied an English upgrade patch which does have Tages protection.

![]() there are different versions of darkstar one, i.e. German = Protect DiSC Frensh = Tages my guess is you installed the wrong patch.

The game shouldn't run, then, huh ?
Have you been able to play the game with the original CD/DVD after 'updating the game to Tages' ? |

protection canNOT be changed from VOB to Tages. thats not possible. if a goldmaster is protected with VOB there are "special" information burned to the media aswell. (Same For Tages, got their own "fingerprints").

Tages
Having now fully cleaned out the installation and redone it all from scratch, the game installs as version 1.1.138, which now im using the new Protection ID program shows up as being TAGES 5.5 or higher, the protection isnt changed as I thought it was I ran an older version of protection ID and didnt notice.
The version 1.2 of Darkstar also uses TAGES 5.5 or higher. My bad for having two copies of Prot ID on my puter. So back to the original question which was does anyone have a clue how to get round this TAGES 5.5 or higher and get a NOCD patch to work for it, my puter generates enough heat as it is. |
