Anno 1701 Fixed Image Problems

hahaha ok right after I posted that I tried again and it worked. So heres a quick run down of what I did to get this damn game to finally work.

- Open Virtual CD 8
- Create virtual cd (direct it to the image that you have)
- It will go through a list of shit that it has to do, once its done open the folder in which you let create, (mine was My Documents > Virtual CD's > Anno 1701
- Download the updated image from GCW
- Extract your GCW file into the folder where the virtual cd creates
- Un mount every virtual drive u have and remove them, so you should just be left with you REAL DISK DRIVES dont leave ANY virtual drives going.
- Through virtual cd, now mount the image you downloaded from GCW (in the folder that VCD created as previously stated mine was in my documents.) When you mount it MOUNT IT TO YOUR REAL CDROM/DVDROM DRIVE do NOT use a virtual drive.
- Now simply run the disk from my computer, press start on the autorun and PLAY!


NOTES: If at first you dont succeed, try, try again.
- Rebooting helped, if its locked up on initilizate or whatever reboot and try again.

I made it exactly that way, still dont works for me....
Gothic 3 worked that way on my pc...
how do you create the virtual image? Automatic copy, Geometry copy, Exact copy, Full copy, normal copy or block copy?

anyway now it works i have done all right it seems it contains a little bug or something sometimes it works sometimes not but its ok

buwan:

create a virtual image of your existing Anno1701 image or DVD with automatic copy then copy the gwc file into D:\Daten\Virtual CDs\ANNO1701 (thats my path) this is also the folder wehre you can find the new copy of the created Dvd Image. Then mount the gwc file form this folder into your physicial drive 4 example by me (E:Anno1701) then lunch it and if it dont works try again sometimes is works sometimes not

Frido1000: Shut down your firewall if you have one enabled or try to run Anno1701.exe from your installed game folder and not with autorun mode i had the same problem but now it works after i have shut donw my firewall so try it

edit: ok it seems that this doesnt still work after all so forget about the thing with firewall or autostart its not the problem still working on it ....

dont know why it doenst work yesterday it works now i have started the game 10 times, 10 times my pc frezzed and chrashed , 10 times i ihave to reboot.....

off 4 me i am waiting 4 a real crack

@hypnos: i tried it out but still doesnt work... i am helples, i have tried several "burning" options (Automatic copy, Geometry copy, Exact copy, Full copy, normal copy or block copy) but i dont notice any effect. I just restartet my system about 15 times now, i am fed up with it.

do i have to delete the virtual RAM-Drive too ?
how often do you have to restart your system until it worked ?
what for errors apper by you ?


EDIT: lol it seems that this game ist the most incalculable game of chance. one time it workds and 18 time it chrases, now i s*** on it !

1st no the last ram drive can not be deleted
2nd it crashed about 2-3 times then it worked but now it crashes everytime
3.like you the pc frezzes during the first loadscreen

Ok after I wrote that, I was playing fine. But then I turned it off about an hour later and came back last night to play... when I tried to play it didnt work. So even if you have done all the steps, sometimes it lets you play... sometimes it doesnt... all about luck.

i just got it working after about 20 freezes!!
i pressed the windows-key about 1 sec after the background turned black and the mouse-symbol (sand glass) showed up (right before the game normaly crashes)!
maybe that was just luck but you could give it a try!
