Guess what? I've just gotten around to trying that detonation 1.2 crack on my Hitman install patched to v1.2 and it LAGS so bad it's unplayable!
If I dump it myself and fix it a la tute, or use Dearm 2.1, it works absolutely fine. Seems detonation have have blown up another crack

I believe these particular lags could occur in version 1.0, newer versions 1.1 and 1.2 did not have such problems...
I never had that strange prob tho, neither with 1.0 nor with 1.1 or 1.2 That's just a ...let's say... guess. Did they use the 1.0 crack ? Dunno, maybe they altered it a bit, coded some own crappy code so it won't crash xD Wouldn't be very uncommon for Detonation, apart from Steam they cannot crack anything very well |

Wasn't sure it was some anti ATI code as the game runs fine on a mates 6800 GT Ultra no matter if patched or not. I've had lag with the original v1.2 EXE too so it's definitely something weird in the EXE that's causing the lag!
This problem is still occuring for people who HAVE installed patch v1.2, like me! Quite a few people still can't get it running, check Eidos' forum! Only using the 2 EXE's I made can I get this running smooth, don't think they'll ever find the real cause. |

A protection always slows thing down a little, so dont expect it to run faster with it still wrapped around

actually for hitman, the uncracked version ran considerably faster than the protected one on my pc.. go figure

yeh protected = the virgin exe (ie: securom)
cracked = well, cracked ![]() probability is the crack was badly done, vm not handled 'perfectly' so weird shit happened etc.. it was definitive though, game was practically unplayable using the cracked exe

The Activemark EXE will also be checking the trial time every minute and updating stuff while it runs, so that will steal some CPU time too.

yeh though activemark would generally be less intensive than vm code.. so it shouldnt be as bad a performance hit... all differs from pc to pc though.. diff configs = diff results = diff headaches

what get's me about the lag is that if you download the demo..it is gonna lag like the real game...funny thing is that they released a patch for the demo and the game flies normal.
So i think that eidos deliberately released a broken game in order to prevent piracy..wish i knew what was in the demo patch that fixed everything i would translate that to my game.... but anyways we need a proper no dvd patch everything i tried so far does not work... |

I also found a crack for version 1.02 some weeks ago. It should be the detonation crack (hbm12-dtn). http://rapidshare.de/files/35720811/hbm12-dtn.rar.html But I don't know if it is proper or not. Greets

the patch of the demo affected something because the game ( demo versionz) worked fine after that with no lag at all...I think somebody should look into what is included in the file installer for the demo patch and see if something more than the actual exe of the game is changed...i think there is but to do that you need to decompile the installeshield installer file and then see what is included in the demo patch from there people could maybe work a solution out...i think a faulty or badly coded dll is at fault here...something that may have slipped by.... It`s weird that eidos would release patched that don`t work since they knew with the demo that they had sever graphical glitches and that they actually fixed them...
