tried using asr/curerom without renaming the drives?.. i think it'll work
renaming the drives is really pointless, the checks go much deeper than that and using asr/curerom defeats the idea of renaming the drives as it hides them...

May be, but in my case Hitman works ONLY if VENDOR - MODEL names are set to 'real-like'.
I think its like some EXTRA check we forgot already

Sounds crappy to me, a copy protection that only allows a precompiled list of vendors and models ?
Isn't that kind of discriminating ppl with old drives and very new unknown ones ? Never heard of that actually, dunno what to think about that. SCREW YOU, SECUROM

naw, sounds like a nice theory, but utter bollocks really...
it'd mean so much compatibility problems with any new drives, securom guys haven't got a crystal ball so i doubt they know of new drives appearing in the future, that and then they'd have to update all the existing protected games... common logic says its wrong..
