This is NOT A CRACK!!

You're installing the 1.02 patch and then copying back the original files and using a mini-image to play, how in the name of hell is that a CRACK??? By doing this you may introduce incompatibilities like:

PD:The menus of replay and editor of maps they do not work well.

I put a solution to play the spellforce 2 skipping the starforce and with the advantages of the patch 1.02 that are GREAT. I´ve tested the game in LAN and solo games during hours (20h) and the game don´t crash in ever, run very fine, Better that with the 1.0

I feel it for using the term "crack", but it is a solution to play worth, only you lose the replay of the games and the access to the editor of the game.

Another people can read this and find the way of developing a better solution, based on this Weakness of the starforce

It is still not a CRACK though, it is a 'work around'!

It may 'work' but as you state it still has problems, so it's not an ideal solution. A 'real' crack would be the better solution.

Also, can you explain how you are 'skipping starforce' when you are copying back the original Starforce protected files from the disc and using a mini-image to fool starforce into thinking you have an original disc?

One more thing, do you have to 'reboot' your PC the first time you play the game? If so, this is indicative of starforce being active.

yup, totally agree, for the following reasons :

1. user probably downgraded the game from the patch (reasoning : he copies the entire contents of the cd/dvd which most definately will not be the patch 'version')

2. mini image is used to get round the protection (which is practically the same as not doing the patch... actually, not practically.. it is)

3. if pc has to be rebooted this is for sure is the starforce drivers, which i think (if its possible ... cos last time i looked it wasn't possible to downgrade the drivers once installed) is pointless..(and definately not a 'weakness' as stated)

4. this came from a first time poster... call me suspicious, but somehow i'd imagine other users on the forum have tried his 'method', had no success and didn't report it because it actually didn't work

For sure overwriting the files will downgrade the patch.. unless the game works from 'new' files being detected and used (which might possibly upgrade it.. new data files and so on...doubtful though)

And i have to agree with BarryB, this is definately not a crack (perhaps mods/thread creator) should rename the thread appropriately.. 'workaround' for sure is a better description than 'cracked!!'

Thanks to the two for questioning with so many perseverance my method

This method onli overwrite files of the protection, not the whole content of the DVD, the Weight of the files are around 15Mb. The game Weight 4 GB ....


The method is very simple, i think that if the satarforce 3.7.14 was cracked if i update the game to the version 1.02 and was copying the files of the starforce (that mysteriously are all in a directory of the DVD ) to be able to return to copy 3.7.16.04 for the old version 3.7.14 and this way the game makes work.


The game has all the improvements of the patch 1.02:

Bugs that before were crash the game now already don´t crash.

The units have the statistics updated correctly and her new names.

improvements in LAN, Internet and mono-player tested in my pc And in network with my brother.

1 º - We Install the game with normality

2 º - We Install the patch 1.02 of the spellforce 2

3 º - In the CD of the game in the location:

" I:\program files\SpellForce\SpellForce 2 - Shadow Wars "

We copy the whole content of the directory:

Protect
protect.dll
spellforce2.exe
base (directory) "only have 1 file of 1,8MB DON´T THE WHOLE GAME"


4º RUN starforce cleaner (there are a copy in the DVD)


And we paste it in the directorywhere we have the spellforce 2 installed , overwriting all of the files.

5º - Download this Mini-image by SCRABBLE -> http://dl.gamecopyworld.com/?d=2006&f=s-spell2mi!rar

6º Mount the inmage in Daemon 4.03, all emulation OFF.

AND PLAY THE GAME ¡¡

Please try to test the method, I test it in two diferents PC and it works perfectly.

still makes no sense, copying the files back from the cd/dvd (especially those executables) HAS to downgrade the patch...

running the cleaner/sf removal will remove the drivers....
then running the exe again will install the OLD drivers

so really you've just reverted the game back to what it was before the patch... perhaps data files were updated which made it show 1.02 but i'd really doubt it if the game was truly 1.02...

and for the last time, it is definately not a crack....
