Perhaps you had the resolution set to high with your old monitor and when you try to play the game the resolution is too high for your new monitor.

Battlefield 2

It can´t be true that u can´t play the game on the monitor. You haven´t even explained what exactly the problem is. Do you have a black screen or what? I have the syncmaster 740bf (17") at home and can play every game I want. You have the same monitor, but 19" response time 2 ms (gray to gray). Push the auto button check the connection cable turn the monitor on. Try all the buttons on the front side especially the button left from the auto button.

Perhaps, the new monitor cannot cope with so low/high refresh frequencies as the ones the old monitor was configured to. Have you contacted the publisher of the game, with a (much more detailed) problem report? Is this game the only one that doesn't work with your new monitor? Have you tried fiddling with the DirectX settings (run DXDIAG)?

Then its not your monitor at fault, the game is at fault, a monitor doesnt kill a game from working.
