This does not use doom 1 at all, if that is what you mean. Someone just recreated the Doom maps in the D3 map maker. It is hosted on fileplanet, and completely legal.

@robo989: The source code for the DOOM engine has been released for free distribution but NOT the data files of the actual game built around it! Therefore, distribution of the DOOM data files (graphics, sounds, musics) is still illegal. (But, as we said, this remake doesn't use any of the original data...)

Oh, absolutely. Just unpack it into the DOOM 3 installation directory and select it from the MOD subscreen of the title screen. (You may want to apply the latest update to DOOM 3, though. Dunno, I don't install games again and again, I keep their rips, with the latest updated applied, in an archive.)

VERY NICE STUFF INDEED!!!

Slightly off the topic but this mod is another very good one to get.

Last Man Standing Coop Mod is a Doom 3 Coop Single Player and Multiplayer modification that aims to bring back the classic Doom experience.

http://lms.d3files.com/

You can play the original Doom3 maps, the ROE maps, Classic Doom and the LMS maps all in glorious co-op mode, makes for some fun with one or two friends.

(Time to move this to the General Gaming forum.)

Perhaps, the key to success is to update DOOM 3 to version 1.3, to have all extra features installed AND the copy protection (and thus the need for a no-CD patch) removed...?
