Maybe it's like it was with The Sims 2 cracks.. if the exe is modified certain features are disabled. Like in the sims 2 you couldn't build homes etc.. the only solution was using the fixed image. As for now I'm using the fixed image for Civ4 along with the latest version of Anti-Blaxx

They stole the crack that PcGame released and "fixed" it. Not that much better actually. Still doesn't work and they ain't able to fix Safedisc 4 from scrath either so I wouldn't really trust them no matter what so...

I know, still not a valid release IMO if you have to steal the crack instead of making your own from scratch. Sure if they had managed to properly crack it I wouldn't mind as much stealing and still failing seems... Well... Dumb.
