i might be wrong but i was under the impression that reverse engineering of any software was illegal

The question should be: "Am I skilled enough in Reverse Engineering to actually understand and make use of these tools?"

yep, the tools definately require a bit of knowledge about the inner workings of the pc, and asm, and virtual machines.. which is most likely beyond the scope of most pc users... and most of the members on this forum

Before anyone asks...
This is NOT an unwrapper, like the old SD1 unwrapper from years ago... There's posts all over the net with people thinking this is some straight universal starforce unwrapper

Dunno if it was a good idea to release it; the Starforce developers may find out the weak points of their copy protection (if they haven't already done so), by analyzing the sources. (Well, if the next generation Starforce is on the way, yes, this release doesn't matter much anyway.)

Well, for older versions of SF you could make an unwrapper out of it with a little coding. But the SF people changed the VM, hence why RLD released these tools.
