too many programs running in the background ?
 that could be the cause... but there are always games that can slow down or loose fps even tho you have the newest and most expensive hardware available... I still remember SpellForce, when it was in stores, you couldnt even have an alltime smooth gameplay with a Radeon 9800 pro, which was the best thing available at that time
