The game window opens and then closes almost immediatly.

i have exactly the same problem

u hear a loading sound for a few seconds then everything just returns to the desktop, ridiculous

Did you try setting the games exe file to use windows 2000 compatabilty mode, I don't have the game myself but I know that fixes issues with some other game cracks.
