D-Tools and CureROM
Hey,
Thanks all. I got this game from Best Buy (DVD version), but it wouldn't play because I had Alcohol installed, which I use for archiving. I didn't need to uninstall Alcohol, but using CureRom 3.1, setting the sweaw file to Windows 2000 compatibility, and loading the image in D-Tools 403 (no emulation options, or RPMS only) instead of Alcohol (which was unloaded) resulted in the image eventually loading, though it took a minute. With the original dvd, it still took longer than it should, 30 sec or so, but I'm willing to live with that. EDIT: After more testing, I was able to reduce loading times to normal (ie, 5-10 secs) with both original dvd and image by first starting CureRom in Lite-Mode, with blacklisting enabled. Then, with the image already loaded, I selected all emulation options (for some reason, just RPMS or RPMS and Securom don't work). I just clicked the shortcut created by the original install. This worked every time I tried it. (BTW, Alcohol is still unloaded). Last edited by fatdog789; 21-02-2006 at 21:50. |

Hey everyone,
I can't get the game to work, using DT4, curerom1.3b. I have tried every technique, and to no avail. I always get "original disk can not be authenticated". Does this mean I have a bad image file? Also, I got the game to run, once, when I first installed it. I made a curerom profile, ran without mounting, and when I got "insert cd/dvd" i mounted, and hit retry, and it ran perfectliy. This only worked one time, and now it won't. Why is that? Thanks for the help. |

Restart your computer. The same thing happened to me at first.

I was almost through the whole thread and nothing worked.
Then i remembered one thing that often helps with Starforce games. I disabled my PATA controller in the control panel of Windows XP. Then it was working. CureROM Lite was running also. I tried a second time but it does only work after some tries. Still have to find the optimal launch procedure. DPM failed in Alcohol120, BTW. |

1. Simply insert your backup into cd or dvd rom.
2. Install game. 3. After install finishes, leave CD-1 in the drive. 4. Do not run using the normal shortcut. 5. Download Securom_loader V1.0 at http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/down...Download&id=88 6. Run the .exe and open the "sweaw.exe" in C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Empire at War\GameData directory and it should work fine. It did for me. 7. If this doesn't work the first time you try to open, just keep trying...eventually it will work. 8. For some reason, mine works better while inserted into my cd/dvd burner. Its kind of a pain but it works good enough until the no cd crack is released. Plus you don't even need Daemon Tools or CureRom. Cheers!
