Sorry mate, I disagree.
Modern media is DESIGNED and MADE to be written at the highest speed possible. Best results are acheived this way on quality modern media using modern burners...

The slowest is an old myth from the infancy of DVD Recordables, and it was true back then, but these days for best results always burn as fast as possible...

And will you be able to read CD's/DVD's, written at highest speed with a (low or high quality, does it matter?) CD/DVD burner, on an old and/or low quality CD/DVD reader, such as that of the PS2 or that of a neighbor/friend with an older PC? You see, I'm having major problems with reading anything off high quality TDK CD-RW's, written at 10x speed (the only speed possible) with a high quality Plextor PX-320A, on my PS2 (modded with DMS4 Pro)... But no problems with TDK CD-R's written at 4x speed! (I didn't want to waste CD-R's, for the purpose of high speed quality tests of write-once media...)

I use DVD decrypter to make back ups of both movies and PS2 games.
They both work 100% never had any problems and if i might add i used CHEAP princo Dvd-R and so far running on 4 year now 0 problems!

Think it must be your copy or whatever cause it should work and run smooth!

Smile My NEC ND-2510A Speed Graph

Here is why I use the lowest speed to burn movies on DVD_RW for my unmodded old PS2.

Speed Graph of the NEC ND-2510A burning at MAX speed (8X)

As you can see from the graph, the speed of the burner starts at 4X thus if I burn at MAX 4X there wouldn't be any changes in speed while buring => no movie playback problems with my PS2.

Sorry lufcfan but I wrote the previous post from my experience and I've gave reason why. On the other hand you were talking about modern media and modern burners but you forgot that we're talking about an OLD DVD reader the PS2 (mine 4 years old) and that a decent PC DVD-Drive wouldn't have any problems. If I would have time I'll post a speed graph of my burner at high speed.

PS. My DVD ReWriter is NEC_2510A.
