I believe it is true but he keeps it from getting released so that xbl won't be screwed by a ****load of cheaters using the hacked firmware and replaced files on the disk. And undetectable by xbl too...
Read about the hack on x-s forums and also take a look at the forums they are talking about there. Another reason to keep it from being released could be the fact that the X360 DVD firmware probably is very similar and thus making it possible to use the same aproach on the 360. It the hacked firmware would be released MS would probably make sure that all 360's shipped after that will have a different kind of firmware that is not reversable in the same way.
