u ever play backup games on that same media? i agree with the guys above. older ps2 laser worst, slim ps2 laser better, computer laser obviously the best. i burn all my stuff the fastest speed (im impatient) and the cheapest media i can get my hands on (im mad cheap). now i dont buy blank dvd from a garage sale or anything, but i dont pay for riteks (had some and found them less reliable than the memorex i used b4 them). rnm and nero work, but for me, i have had no coasters since switching to dvd decryptor. my best advice: watch the movies on the dvd player if you have one. my friend does the same..ps2 sitting on top of the dvd player, he gets the controls out to watch a movie and waste laser life while preserving his $78 dvd player

I agree. No way i would watch dvd's on my PS2. You can buy dvd players cheaper than you can purchase replacement PS2 lasers. Here in the States you can find dvd players for $29.99. |

I burn PS2 DVD game backups on the same media with exactly the same software and they work perfectly. My only troubles come with trying to burn movie DVDs. I have heard alot of people having success playing DVD movies on PS2s that have been burned via DVD Decryptor so I might give Decryptor a go.

the laser will work a dam sight harder reading a dvd (film) than a game ,as far as i am aware !
the game will load from disc certain parts to play then load again where as the films need to read constantly ????? their in could be the problems with the discs ! ritek are cheap enough anyway i pay around £7 for 25 . and i agree that you should play films on a dvd player and not your ps2 lol

My advice on that one or playing Backup DVD-R or DVD+R(Whichever) I use DVD Decrypter as well except one Difference which is instead of making ISO for Single layer DVD's I ripped it like DVD9 format which is ripping in Files and then use DVD Shrink to put it back together in ISO and Burn using RN Deluxe..Strange enough Every DVD player I throw at it, it works like a Champ.. Making Direct ISO doesn't always work just by removing protection or Region Etc..Sometimes you gotta go little further..

I just burned a DVD movie in DVD Decryptor and it turned out to be my best burn yet. The DVD played perfectly on my old big PS2 with exception of one spot in the film where the thing just stopped at a certain frame. Not sure why this happened but I just skipped to the next scene/chapter and the rest of the film played perfectly.

The MOST important thing to burn DVDs for PS2 is to make sure that the burning is done at constant speed.
I use nero7 (even nero6) to burn my DVDs (smartbuy DVD+RW 1-4X [Prodisc]) but nero doesn't tell you the actual speed with which you're burning (like Alcohol) so the best choice is to select the lowest speed supported by you burner and media (in my case 2.4x). This is because probably there aren't any DVD burners that write at max speed from the begining of the burning process. For e.g. an 8x DVD Writer starts with 4x for the first ~30% than 6x for the next ~40% and the rest will burn it at 8x (numbers are very approx.). This will create problems (choppy/lagged) if you're you're using the PS2 (mine is big not modded & 4 years old) to play them but not on a PC DVD-Drive. Hope that I helped you. ![]() PS. I use DVD+RW because I store the backed-up movies as small avi files and not DVDs so that I can fit ~6 movies on a DVD-R (economical huh ).

Modern media is DESIGNED and MADE to be written at the highest speed possible. Best results are acheived this way on quality modern media using modern burners... The slowest is an old myth from the infancy of DVD Recordables, and it was true back then, but these days for best results always burn as fast as possible...
