Question DVD-R Movies on PS2?

Is there a particular way to burn DVD movies to play properly on a PS2? I have tried it a few times but they always run choppy/lagged. I've been using DVD-R media and I've burned them with Nero, I've tried slowing down the burn speed but that doesn't seem to help.

should play fine, w/ or w/out a chip in the ps2. does it play good in a dvd player, or your comp? id say bad burn, you get any errors in the burn log, or doing anything to slow down the cpu when your burning the disc?

the DVDs play fine on my PC. I have both a big PS2 and a slim PSTwo. One DVD that I burned plays choppy on the big PS2, but plays ok on the slim. I decided to try buring another DVD at a slower burn speed, (I started with 8x, on my second try I took it down to 4x), and that DVD ran choppy on both PS2s. I've been using Nero Express 6 to burn and my DVD-Rs are Fujifilm 4.7 GB/120 min DVD-Rs "up to 8x write speed"

Stick with Name Brand Discs..Sony,Verbatim,TDK or Ritek G04 or G05(My Favorite)..Also I use Sonic Record now Deluxe(Excellent Program BTW)..
Since it lacks in your Ps2 likely your PS2 Laser doesn't like the Brand Disc you're using..That's My guess..

Sorry for adding a possibly stupid note but, as far as I've been told, the laser in the PS2 is not calibrated to be able to read recordable CD's/DVD's and one the functions of a modchip is routing more power to the laser diode (which is why it gets killed earlier than on an unmodded PS2)...

Actually the modchip doesnt have anything to do with it. A Stock, unmodded PS2 will play a dvd movie backed up on dvd-r. It has to do with the laser having to focus harder to read dvd-r media so it burns up faster when cheaper media with low reflectivity is used.
