Anyway in the past to make games work without the CD I simply got a fixed .exe file from GameCopyWorld and replaced the old .exe. (like I did for Age of Empires III) But for Civ IV the only way to make this work seems to be rather complex with the image file and the cloaking software, at least it seems that way to me. I like to play games but am no programmer.

I own the game so if I can't get the no-cd to work it is no big deal but I was curious if Civ IV has some type of new uber-protection that prevents people from making a fixed .exe file? It seems every other game I have ever made work without a CD works with just the fixed .exe. But I guess Atari found a way to defeat that and none of the hackers can get around it? Go figure, all that cooperate money making it so I have to insert my CD when I play.

You don't need an .exe...

Just mount the image, run VirtualCDhide, and play the game. Then when your done playing, exit VirtualCDHide. How easy can it get?
