@ Mujifighter
That's the SAME problem I've encountered, and now I've the same with NFSU2. Even when I have reinstalled the OS (2 times) I've kept the D:\ partition (which is about 50 GB, 40 of them full & defragmented). Maybe I'll try to free some disk space and just defragment again with that proggy. Thx for the advice. However my config is: P4 3.06 Ghz HT FSB533 (I've tried the imagecfg trick, but nothing) 1024 Mb DDR 333 80 Gb Hard Disk @ 4800 RPM ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 128 Mb (NOT shared) When I bought it, just 2 years and a half ago, it was really a gaming machine. Maybe it would be still good if there where some good and up-to-date gfx drivers. I've already tried official ATI catalyst, DNA and Omega Drivers, Unyan Catalyst and DHModtool, but with latest drivers I'm unable to reproduce videos. Anyway, I'm sure that the problem isn't caused by: USB joypad Firewall Antivirus Updating features running in background Internet Connection Paging File Fragmentation Dual CPU issues (it could happen while programmin' with feet )GFX card (it works perfectly with other heavy games such as COD2) Hope this will help in finding a solution. |

But you wont get help after admiting you rented the game and you dont actually own it.

EDIT: All PC's are different, motherboards are different, graphic cards from whatever manufacturer (even same 6800 chipset) are different, all processors arent twins or identical, soundcards, memory, drives, etc etc All are different. So you cant have a game running 99% perfect on all machines, its impossible to test on all multiples of hardware. Last edited by DABhand; 13-12-2005 at 15:08. |

DabHand, I've always been a console-gamer, but I've never pretended to play on pc as easily as on Sega MegaDrive. Anyway it's certainly not my opinion that lots of people are having problem with (not only) this game; it seems that having a game without any kind of issue is just exception, while it would be the normality. If Silent Hill 4 fails in recognizin' my gfx and so prevents me from changing the screen res, what I should do? Remaining calm and thinkin' that I'm one of those unlucky people who have this problem, or better return the game to the store? If NFSMW have some strange behaviour cause I have 50 GB full on the 75 of my Hard-Disk, even if this is the prob (I've still not tried, and maybe I'll never try cause I've not the game anymore), what I should think about the programmers? Nobody said me I would have had 30+ GB free on my Hard Disk!!!! (I defragment it every single day, just to be precise). And what about path of neo, so horrible that they released a huge patch in less then one week? And F.E.A.R. and Starship Troopers, which look like crap at med\low res? Don't ya think that there isn't too much attention for med-low-end systems? Back to NFSMW, a 7800 GTX owner, seeing the game choppy cause in some situations it is choppy, no matter the hardware and the detail level you choose, what should he do? Well, I'm still waitin' for an answer, cause games which play fine on the 99,99999% systems are still many, as a confirm that is still possible to make a game suitable for (almost) every config. My little noobie idea is, since pc has become a gaming machine (I think approx. since 1998), too many people have thought to be able to enter this market; the result is, too many games, much of them similar and of low quality, and only few must-buy, few as they where before this "Boom". So, even if this ought-to-be great titles (I think also to POP3, damned SF3!!!) are not free from the shadow of issues, mmmmmm, better come back to consoles. But not me, the programmers. |

Thats all fine and well, but your dont own NFSMW, you rented it.
If you read the rules, no help to people who dont have the original disc. |

@DABhand: I think DUKE_NUKEM wasn't requesting anything for his copy of NFS:MW that he doesn't actually own, he was only discussing it. And, according to his bad opinion about it, I don't think he'll keep it anyway...
![]() @DUKE_NUKEM: While I agree with you on most parts, this thread is getting a bit off-topic for this forum...

Fair do's my apologies to DUKE, but he is wrong about systems and how games run, my NFSMW works flawlessly.
