What is swap fix?

I have just had a look for a protection patch for FIFA 2001 and there is a patch on for swap fix. What is it and do I have to download it?

Also is the game protected?

FIFA 2001 is an EA game and needs to be patched to allow it to be swapped via the "EA Boot Process" described in the various tutorials (like on ####://www.psxcopyworld.co.uk )

The whole EA Patching scene (there is a dedicated website ####://www.eapatcher.com ) is a special process for protected games. So far as I know, Fifa 2001 is not protected but I'm not sure.

Best thing with EA games is to use CloneCD with a compatible burner. No patching needed then with NEO2.x and OrigaChip.
