Possibly due to 2 reasons.
1. Bad image, so cant authenticate the cdkey from the image made. 2. Its quite possible your rom/reader's lens is a bit dirty now, try giving it a little clean and make a new image, failing that it could be ready to go out the game, most rom/reader's have a half life so to speak before they start to lose performance.
