Hey, thanks for the info, and after looking at what you wrote, I figure my best bet is to find someone who knows what they are doing to do it haha. Thanks again.

One other thing you might want to try.....
Since you said the PS2 sits in a entertainment center and is fairly dusty (like mine is LOL) try getting a "cd/dvd lens cleaning disc"... It will have a very tiny brush on the bottom of the disc that cleans the laser as the disc spins. Mine is setup just like yours and I run my cleaning disc through my PS2 about once every other week. Who knows, it may help... and it definately won't hurt....and even if you have to get a new laser (or adjust your old one) at least you would have the disc for future maint. of your ps2....
