On this forum, the definition of "warez" is "not having the original CD/DVD". The reason doesn't matter, that's what forum rule #3 is about. Sorry, you may have fallen into this category unfairly; still, these are the forum rules...

@Joe Forster- That is exactly what I'm talking about! All warez users are idiots? Is it because they don't agree with the unfair profit-making of these uber-greedy corporations? Because they use the services of this fine website to get free stuff? By participating in an operation that has become primarily a tool for illegal file sharing (not by pirates
), regardless of what it was originally intended for, I think you lose any right to make sweeping denunciations of the perpetrators of a VICTIMLESS "crime".@Nocturnus- That last post was a little ridiculous. I agree that the policies of our current administration are detrimental to our own security as well global stability. I would like to point out, however, that the period of Portugese history that you are glorifying bears a striking resemblance to the current affairs of the US. Yes, you were imperialists first, but is that really something to be proud of? In fact, a great deal of the problems facing America and the world today are a legacy of the earlier colonial powers' missteps during their years at the top of the heap. |

ok i didnt understand any of that, those words were far to bog for my little brain :P
im on the fence with it all,i dont disagree with anything anybody does illegally(with obvious exeptions ie rape n kiddie ****) hell if someone is sat in the canteen at work smoking a joint...i aint gonna go running to the boss's and grass him up. the point is,wether you are illegally downloading or not, keep it to yourself man. registering with a name like warezrulez is done only to wind up users who follow the rules, there would be no other point man. so,where some of your points may be valid, you have to understand consiquence. this site could be under threat if they supported warez users,or caterd to there needs by answering there questions. you yourself could be under threat boasting yourself as a warez user, with your i.p just a click away. YOU as a warez user get all your heats desires from no cd cracks and images from this site, why bite the hand that feeds you? your only here to annoy the mods, plain and simple man. |

Quick clarification...I have never said that I use warez. I merely think that the existence of warez and file-sharing are very good things. I fervently hope that eventually the file-sharing movement will bring the corparations to see that their current methods of business are unfair and wrong.
I don't mean to bite the hand of a site that I find interesting. I really just wanted to suggest to the moderators that banning and deleting the posts of open warez users, rather than flaming them and making moral judgements, might lead to a lighter, friendlier atmosphere on the forums. And then Nocturnus got me talking about politics. Sorry about that

How long have you been buying software dude, I remember when I could buy it for £1.99 - £5.99 way back for commodore 64's and Spectrum 48k's.
Then the dual tape recorder systems came out, and it was easy for people to hire games out and copy them from tape to tape at high speed. So prices went to £2.99 - £7.99 and over the years with the introduction of the Atari ST and Amiga, the prices continued to increase as more and more people started to buy from the street pirates (local markets etc). So how wrong are they? They should keep it at a low price? Make no profits at all, also you forget, way back publishers like codemasters was just the brothers who founded it, unlike today where its a huge workforce. Who pays the wages? And again as ive said before in a different thread, it doesnt matter if a game is £35 or £5, people are greedy a-holes and will steal it even if it was a £1 for it. That is the truth, people are thiefs and they can never own up to it. Yet they would never ever allow anyone to steal from them, quite a contradiction right there huh. |

@WarezRule!: Excuse me, I also have my own opinion about society, economy, politics and, in particular, the greed of game publishers. BUT NOT EVEN THAT changes the fact that the forum rules prohibit the discussion of warez! Actually, argumentations over the usefulness of warez are off-topic, too...
As for warez users, the current extremely high - and constantly raising! - noise/signal and ban ratio on this forum is a good proof for the vast majority of warez users being idiots. Here you could define "idiot" as something like "not familar enough with the tools/sites/forums to be able to solve warez-related problems on his (or her?) own, but unfortunately not only that, also expecting other people's help - often in an aggressive tone - free of charge (as in without paying anything or doing a favor in change)". These people are the same idiots whom once you help with solving an absolutely minor problem with their cars and, from then on, like a leech, they will expect you to change the tyres or replace the engine - still for free! -, even if there are car repair service all over the neighborhood. Unfortunately, I know quite a few people like that around me... ![]() You think that I think that idiotism is not warez-related? Damn, you got that right!
