Xbox modding

I was wondering if they will ever make modding an xbox easier. My xbox got modded by a relitive that I see once every 2 years, so i have never modded one. I would like to purchase an xbox 360 and have the luxeruy of modding it. So when they do come out with a mod chip can someone keep me posted about a tutorial on how to mod an xbox. Thanks

The first xbox is really easy to mod as the has a debug port and only a few more points to be soldered. Modchips for the xbox are also very reliable and works very well.

Any xbox modification guide will be obsolete when it comes to the xbox 360. Remember that MS has put a lot more effort into making the xbox 360 much harder to hack/chip.

Of course there will be a chip sometime for the 360 too, what I wonder is how long it is going to take. Could take 1 month to 1 year... Who knows...

About a year, but the security is crap compared to.. even the gamecube. The only security it has is software based, the x360 is hardware based. Not only that, but parts in each box is supposed to include their own signatures of "check and balances". If one fails, they all fail.

I am guessing that it will take no less than 2 years to hack. I only based this on the Gamecube and how long a hardware based mod took to come out for that. You uh...will be waiting a while.

I don't think it is gonna take up to 2 years. If we look at the gamecube it never reached the same popularity as the xbox, it doesn't have as much great games and it also uses special discs (8cm DVDr's took a while before hitting the consumer market and YES I am aware that standard DVDr can be used if the cover is removed).

The xbox 360 will get a LOT of focus in the hacking scene when it comes out. I am sure of that and people will sit with it 24/7 until they have hacked it.

The Gamecube does not have that much of an advanced protection after all. Before the chips came you could play backups using a preloader disc and then put in your backups.

But sure the xbox security is about as bad as it can get. Too small bios size to contain a decent check the same time as it can boot the xbox. Sniffable buses and a flashable standard TSOP included...
