Thanks for your reply Homer, I was only asking as I got the impression it was only for those who have the 'Steam' (downloaded direct from Steam) version. And yes I dont currently have halflife 2 installed, due to a recent format of my system, so I havent actually tried to download it as yet.

the lost coast is a sort of semi expansion,and is very good.

yes you need steam,and it doesent matter if you have dvd or bought and downloaded it from steam themselves.
