How to run Civ4 from image file:
1. Download hide virtual cd (VirtualCDHide) from here or another site 2. Mount game dvd with deamon tools or alcohol 3. Install game 4. Start VirtualCDHide (it wil come in your system tray) 5. Right click VirtualCDHide and click hide cd drives 6. Now go to your folder with Civ4, right click on Civ4 exe file and turn compatility on win 2000. Run the game. Now you can put your originall cd to box. |

Well sorry i don't know why it doesn't work for you. You must do what i wrote in step 6. In this case you must play from originall DVD and wait for nodvd crack. BTW i had the same problem when i used SD4HIDE program, i tried with VirtualCDHide and it works perfect. Try uninstall game and do all steps! and use VirtualCDHide. I had to set Daemon tools to emulate SafeDisc before SD4Hide would work but since then, it's been fine. I didn't need compatiblity mode.

Interesting - how do you get the MDS file if you only have the MDF? (Off topic as this is about a different game but what the hey...)

While reading the FAQ, you will find the link to Virtual CD-Hide, as well.

No-CD vs image file
I did buy Civilization IV and enjoy playing it. I have not had any of the performance issues that some folks have.
My question was about the way to get Civ IV to work without the CDs. (Did anyone notice the Install disk and Play disk are mislabeled?) Anyway in the past to make games work without the CD I simply got a fixed .exe file from GameCopyWorld and replaced the old .exe. (like I did for Age of Empires III) But for Civ IV the only way to make this work seems to be rather complex with the image file and the cloaking software, at least it seems that way to me. I like to play games but am no programmer. I own the game so if I can't get the no-cd to work it is no big deal but I was curious if Civ IV has some type of new uber-protection that prevents people from making a fixed .exe file? It seems every other game I have ever made work without a CD works with just the fixed .exe. But I guess Atari found a way to defeat that and none of the hackers can get around it? Go figure, all that cooperate money making it so I have to insert my CD when I play. |

Hi,
I've installed civ 4 but not the original one,I've bought a pirate one. Is there anybody out there that have installed the pacth of civ 4 version 1.09on their pc without having problem? I'm afraid to test it because the installation of civ 4 almost make me crazy.. so i'm afraid that the patch will make the civ 4 on my machine corrupted and make me reinstall the civ 4 back.
