Need help with DJ error message - "the media is write protected"

It's not the games, or anything like that. It's something with my computer, or wrong with my hard drive. I either have to defragment it, or I possibly even have some partition table problems - as I just checked it with Nuts & Bolts and got a strange error message.

I need to back up my hard drive, fix the error (which will probably mean reformatting it), and see if I still get the same problems.
