Yeah, thats true, why unplugging all drives before each time you play ? Its much easier to just play with DVD
But if you want to save/protect your disc from scratches this is a recommendable way

I have an 8 year old and an 11 year old boys who handle my original discs (and the backup discs) all the time and they have never scratched or damaged one! It just a matter of teaching them how to handle them correctly but most important of all, to put them back in their respective CD/DVD covers immediately after playing!

Yeah, thats truly a thing you should teach your kids BUT i dont have any...and probably not in the next 3-4 years so it is my thing to watch out for my cds not to get broken or screwed up (sometimes my girlfriend is guilty, too )
And i still know what I did to my fathers CDs Many, many CDs of my dad died because of me
