DJ Errors...any insight?

Every time I try to burn a .CDI file in DJ I get the same error:
"E-17812 9/2/01 6:06:29 PM - IMATION CD-RW IMW040420 (Bus 0,ID 1): (CDB: 2a0000002dc400001000, Status: 040002, Sense: 052400) Illegal field in command descriptor block"

Then my CD-R Drive is locked up and the disk becomes unwritable. I have tried both version 2 and higher of Disk Juggler but I get the same error. I am new to this and I have read through most of this forum and tried to find tutorials. I follow all directions to the "t" with no avail. Any help is appreciated!

NO! The .cdi is not corrupted. I get those errors all the time, mostly with echelon releases. You probably get that error because your burner cannot burn segments less than 302 sectors in size. The header for the .cdi has a track that is only 300 sectors. If the file has multiple audio tracks then you can fix it with CDIfix, but if it only has one -- I'd say that file is doomed, you should find another rip and try it. I have the same problem and the only game I havent been able to burn was THPS2 so dont give up.

PS- Remember it is the burner's fault not the file's.

Thanks for the help. I downloaded a copy of the program and ran it on my files. Some of the files it said it couldnt fix so I've given up on them. However, on others it says that the file seems to be fine. When trying to burn these files I have encountered 2 new errors... as follows:

"Illegal mode for this track or invalid packet size"

and/or

"Unable to detect '.cdi' CD format: using user provided format instead."

I know there are some posts about this last error - unfourtunatley I cant find them now.
any ideas?? thanks again!

Use CDI2NERO and burn with Nero 5.0, DiscJuggler is just too incompatible with most writers...

Here read this http://dcxeal.virtualave.net/buffer.html , its the simple solution to the problem, you dont even have to use patches.

Hey ive had the very same probs. What i did was went to http://luna.spaceports.com/~selfboot/index.htm

and d/l'ed DJ 2 and i also use DJ 3 its a pain in the bum as you have to uninstall one to use the other but if one wont burn the other will. Dont turn your .cdi to a nero file coz then you need a bloody boot disk and thats a total pain in the ass. Honestly do what ive done it works i promise.

I "sucessfully" burned a copy by converting the file into nero format. I recieved no errors and when I view the contents of the CD in windows I see all the "normal" .BIN files and such. However, it does NOT play in my dreamcast. Could this be a result of having cheap CD-Rs? I have PNY CD-Rs with greenish backsides. I've noticed that most copies I've seen are blue.....

Blues don't work in my machine and the light greens work the best in mine.

Have you tried loading your game using the Utopia boot-disc?? Gidget just stated only one message back that NERO copies aren't self-booting.

Yeah I used a boot disk, not sure what kind it was though. Boots up with an image of a 3D reindeer, got it form a friend and it works fine for him. I just thought that maybe the CDs could be a problem. Thanks!

Thanks for all your help everyone! I haven't gotten a copy to work just yet, but I am close. Plus you all have given me so much good bedtime reading. Anyway, I've got plenty of resources to get crakin on so I will post again later! Thanks again!
