Neverwinter nights
Version 1.66 came out about 2 weeks ago. The 1.66 nocd patch you are showing is obviosly for the beta version. Just hoping you guys get one out soon. Thanks for all your great work. I use them for all my games, as I hate swapping out cd's.

As of 1.66 it looks like the CD check is gone... give it a try!
if the auto-update doesn't work, download the patch by hand from nwn.bioware.com. It's great to play this game sans CD! |

Mine 1.66 version of Neverwinter Nights + SoU + HotU dosen't requer a CD.

just to clarify - the v1.66 beta was v1.66.8067
the latest version is v1.66.8074 there are now working cracks for both versions, although i don't see why as, like you said, the game no longer seems to do a CD check however i've got a problem that i'd like a solution to - there are a lot of private server fixes for older versions, but none for the newer versions. this is probably because at some point a generic private server fix came out (its made by fairlight and its on gamecopyworld, you can see it under NWN and 'Older Patches'). i've used this in the past and it's worked for me. however i recently updated to v1.66.8074 and it no longer works. i tried using the no cd crack for v1.66.8074 and it still didn't work, however it works with the no cd crack for v1.66.8067. this unfortunately means the game isn't exactly up to date i was wondering if anyone could tell me why this is? is it a problem with fairlights generic patch? has it been blacklisted in the latest patch (but not in the beta)? or is it down to a difference in the v1.66.8067 and v1.66.8074 no cd cracks? ________ discuss vaporizers Last edited by reddragon105; 30-01-2011 at 04:41. |

A little difference,yes, but I'm sure if you study some nwn private server exes
you'll see....the solution has been posted many times so the search button is your best friend here

private server
As I was browsing around the forums looking for the workaround for private server I found many suggestions but never a definate working solution. The windows hosts file entries may have worked previously, but I just installed and patched to 1.66.8074 and it doesn't work, or at least only partly.
HEX-ing the executable probably works as suggested in another forum post, but then I'd have to distribute the exe to people, which is quite unnecessary. My experience has seemed to yeild that nwmain and nwserver have hard-coded IPs(can't verify this, I honestly didn't take the time to check the exe itself), because the hosts file entry of nwmaster.bioware.com works for logging into the multiplayer but then when someone attempts to join the server it attempts to send packets to nwmaster.bioware.com but uses IPs(209.5.183.137 & 66.244.193.9) instead of the domain name, which is why only using the Windows hosts file may or may not work for you. So a good firewall is pretty much all you need.. deny all traffic you are unsure of while friends are connecting, or just make some rules denying traffic to either of the above mentioned IPs. |

Hmmm....I know I did some fixing on this one before and had no problem hosting/playing on cracked servers. Not sure, but as far as I remember all clients needed to run cracked nwmain.exe (same version) and only the server needed the cracked nwserver.exe. Both with the "Call-home" function disabled and all clients with valid cd-keys....
